The story behind the bookmark

Chelsea goes through phases, or “seasons” as we prefer to call them, in her crafting and creating, and in 2022, Chelsea entered her season of macramé. She bought a kit and made her first, simple macramé wall-hanging with handmade clay beads. Then, as she is known to do, she promptly gifted it to a good friend.

Then, shortly thereafter, adventure called and Chelsea took off in her truck, Blueberry, with a little camper shell for some big adventures. Being in her season of macramé, Chelsea brought along her cotton cordage and some beads. As a pastime, in her lil’ truck camper, Chelsea spent many hours, while living on the road, making these braided, macramé bookmarks as they were a small, “camper-sized” way of keeping in touch with this beautiful craft.

As a result, we now have a collection of these lovely, hand-crafted bookmarks, some of which we will hold onto for our own little (but growing) library, and some we want to share with other book lovers and avid readers, for their (hopefully) growing libraries. 

Thus, the macramé bookmarks available here on OBM represent the 2022 season of Chelsea’s craft and creativity. And, for those interested to know, these bookmarks were made while on the road, somewhere between British Columbia, California, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Idaho, or, back across the border, in Fernie, B.C. Oh, the stories these bookmarks could tell…perhaps for another day. Until then, we hope they hold your spot in the stories and adventures between the pages of those beautiful moments carved out for reading.
